The annual National Night Out, a community/police partnership event that promotes anti-crime programs in communities on the first Tuesday in August, is back for 2021 after a one-year hiatus during the pandemic. With the exception of 2020, this annual event has been enjoyed by Americans every year since 1984.

Although a complete list of National Night Out events in New York state is not yet available, we can confirm that counties throughout the state have local police departments participating. Here is the information on National Night Out in our own headquarters city of Freeport, Long Island.

National Night Out in Freeport, NY

Date and time: August 3, 2021 | 5:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M.

Location: Freeport Cow Meadow Park | 701 South Main Street, Freeport, NY 11520

What to expect: Meet your neighbors and enjoy an evening of fun for the entire family. There will be free food, music, raffle and gifts. Long Island Cares will be present with their mobile food pantry.

In addition to the local Freeport Police Department, there will be many state and local government representatives present. The Mount Sinai South Nassau Voxmobile™ will be on hand to present COVID-19 vaccinations as well.

National Night Out in New York City and Statewide

August 3 is the date for National Night Out events nationwide. If you are interested in attending one in your community, visit the organization’s website to find out where National Night Out is happening near you. For those in New York City, the NYPD is hosting National Night Out in more than 70 locations citywide on August 3.

The National Night Out is a great time to meet your local police department and form relationships with law enforcement. We are glad to endorse this important annual event.
